Prestige Institute of Management (UGC NAAC accredited 'A' Grade Institute) was set up in the year 1997 by Prestige Education Society, Indore registered under the Societies Registration Act 1860. The Society was setup by Prestige Group of Industries with an objective to meet the widely felt need for globally oriented Management and Information Technology education and training for professionals. The Institute has grown to be recognized as a premier Institute for higher learning. It is a major learning center in Central India. The Institute has approval of All India Council for Technical Education & the State Government and is affiliated to Jiwaji University, Gwalior.
The Institute offers MBA, MBA-Integrated (Five years dual degree programme in management), BBA, BCA, B.Com (Economics/Computer Application), B.Com (Hons), BTM and PGDCA programmes. Jiwaji University, Gwalior awards the degree for all the programmes offered by the Institute. Institute has received UGC NAAC 'A' Grade accreditation and recognized under section 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956.
The strikingly modern PIMG campus, specifically designed to create stimulating atmosphere for higher learning, is located at Airport Road, Near Deen Dayal Nagar, Gwalior, a prominent site, 1 km from Maharajpur Airport, 7 kms from Railway Station and 7 kms. from main bus stand. The campus is aesthetic, user friendly, spacious, well lit and comfortable. The serene and peaceful environment supplemented by greenery all around, provides just the right balance to the rigorous academic curriculum, the budding professionals have to go through.
Developing skills related to management and Information technology is a continuous process at the Institute. Pedagogical tools like learning through movies, seminar presentations, group discussions and class room presentations develop communication skills, inter personal behaviourial skills, working in teams and event management. All the classrooms are equipped with modern teaching aids such as LCD Projectors.
The Institute uses simulation, case based learning, industry visits, extra mural lecturers series and interactive sessions with senior executives from Industries.
Training and Consultancy
The Institute offers Training and Consultancy services to industrial and business units through its faculty in the areas of Production, Finance, Marketing, Human Resource Management, General Management and Information Technology.
Entrepreneurship Development Cell
The Entrepreneurship Development Cell was being promoted in PIMG in the year 2006.The mission was to develop institutional mechanism to create entrepreneurial culture and entrepreneurship amongst the faculty and students. All India Council For Technical Education has approved the cell for the year 2011-12and 2012-13 and released a grant of Rs 4 lakh for the first year.
Till now, the cell has organized more than 30 expert talks, 4 EACs (Entrepreneurship Awareness Camps), two SDPs on Beauty Care and Treatment and Mobile Repairing one BSDP (Business skill development programme) sponsored by MSME, Indore and Two EDPs sponsored by MSME, Indore. Two Business plan contest were organized for identifying lucrative business opportunities. The core focus of the cell in future is to act as regional Information Centre on business opportunities, processes, technologies and market etc.
MBA Students carry out major research projects under the guidance of experienced faculty in their respective specialization areas. The Institute lays heavy emphasis on original research work. The faculty members of the Institute publish atleast 150 research papers in National & International refereed journals every year. The Institute has been under taking major as well as minor research projects sponsored by various funding bodies at state as well as national levels.
Training and Consultancy
The Institute provides training and consultancy services to Industrial and business units through its faculty in the areas of Production, Finance, Marketing, Human Resource Management, General Management and Information Technology.
Summer Training is an essential component of PIMG curriculuam which provides practical orientation to the students. During Summer training the students have to undergo rigorous training for gaining in depth knowledge and skills to understand the problems underlying the work situations and learn to workout their solutions. Summer training is arranged for the students of MBA II semester and BBA IV Semester students. Faculty guides help students during their summer training along with their industry guides.
Another vital ingredient of PIMG's philosophy of excellence in overall development is industrial visits. Industrial visits provide interface between educational and organizational environment and help the students in understanding the practical aspects of what they study in class room. The students of MBA, MAM, BBA, BCA & B.Com visit industrial units to understand how Management concepts and IT skills are applied in real settings. This helps them acquire applications oriented learning.
Extra Mural Lecture Series
This is another dynamic aspect of PIMG's Management and Information Technology programs; guest lectures are organized to supplement the theoretical knowledge of students with practical aspects of Management and Information technology by experienced professionals coming from reputed organizations. Executives and eminent personalities from the corporate world are invited to the institute regularly for interacting with students on relevant topics and pragmatic aspects of Management and Information Technology. Such interaction enrich students application orientation by exposing them to the experiences of the Industry.
The Institute has been sponsoring its students to participate in Students Management Games (SMG) organized by All India Management Association (AIMA) every year since 1998. Prestige Institute of Management, Gwalior's team won the Western Zone SMG Contest 2006 held at PIMR Indore during September 2006. In all 24 teams from various B-Schools participated in that contest. The team was placed third in National SMG Contest held at Fore Schools of Management (New Delhi) in October 2007. The students of PIMG won first prize in Summer Training report presentation and business quiz at Pacific Institute of Management, Udaipur & second prize in Case Folio competition help at Gitarattan International Business School in Nov. 2008.
The Institute regularly organizes various cultural and social activities under the banner of PIMG Rotract Club. Functions like "Independence Day" and "Republic Day" are celebrated by students, faculty and staff members with patriotic zeal. Sports Competitions, Quizes, Antakshari etc. are some of the regular co-curricular and extra curricular activities of the Institute.
PIMG facilitates all round development of its students. The Institute believes in bringing out the best of all the students by providing them the right environment and opportunities. Students of the Institute regularly organize seminars, group discussions, quizzers, cultural programs etc. which provide a platform to them to demonstrate and hone their skills.
National Management and IT Festival
The Institute organizes a three days National Management and IT Festival "Spandan" every year. Students representing Institutions from all over India participate in various cultural, educational and competitive events organized during "Spandan". The festival is planned and organized by the students of the Institute under the able guidance of the faculty. The students of the Institute are sponsored to participate in competitive events organized by other Institutions.
The Institute sends the students on excursion tour every year. The students learn leadership skills, team building, goal setting, attainment of objectives, time management etc. through practical exposure on the tour. The faculty members a company the group. This year students visited Shimla, Kullu Manali, and Amritsar.
The Institute provides indoor and outdoor sports facilities to the students through sports club headed by sports officer. The students also participated in various inter-state and inter university competitions.
The Institute has the tradition of staying in touch with the passed out students. Alumni association has been formed and an annual meet of passed out students takes place every year in order to facilitate constant interaction with their alma mater. This networking event allows the pass out students to once again connect with their alma mater and current students through the sequence of events.
